Upcoming events at the Wine Cottage Bistro

Here we are half way through February already. The month of January was a blur and February is reacting very similarly.

We have some very exciting things coming on board in the next few weeks. First of all we will be introducing our spring menu during the second week of March. Matt LaRocco promises to bring some great new recipes and some requests from our customers. He is also adding a new menu for the wine bar which will feature "tapas" or small plates. These will be available during our winebar hours of 2-5 pm.

March 6 is the date for our next winemaker dinner featuring Brian Freeborn of Casa Cassera. Menu for that event is:

Palmina Winemaker Dinner

Last night at the Bistro was the 2nd winemaker dinner of the year featuring, Steve and Crystal Clifton of Palmina wines. We had an intimate group of 33 all eager to taste the gourmet menu of Matt LaRocco and the smooth and sultry Italian styled wines from Palmina.

First course was a locally grown, stuffed artichoke paired with the Bianca a white blend wine. Second course was a wood-oven roasted tomatoe and bread salad (yumm) paired with the Aliso.
Third course was Sicilian Style Braised lamb shanks paired with the Matia
Dessert was cheese, chocolate and nuts with the debut of Udici. This wine has never been released before so it was special that we had the opportunity to offer to our guests.

We had another great group of wine enthusiasts. The Colemans are on a perfect record of attendance, having attended the first winemaker dinner with Ardison Phillips. We had four from Ontario Canada. The Fishers are here for a month on holiday enjoying our warm winter. They are affectionately known as "snow birds". Coincidently, they are members of the Vancouver Wine Society. Imagine their surprise and delight when they called for reservations, after reading about the WCB in the SM Sun, and we said we were closed to the public but had a couple more tickets available for our winemaker dinner! They immediately made reservations and were impressed with the entire evening.

Remember you can enjoy an intimate "date" with the winemaker on the first Monday of every month. Our next winemaker dinner is with Brian Freeborn of Casa Cassara. Matt has an incredible menu planned and we have tickets available.

What a great night. The food was fabulous and the wine paired perfectly. See you at the Bistro
